This year’s Waikato Open will be held 26 27 28 July at St Paul’s Collegiate. The flyer is here, and registrations are being accepted here

The Tournaments:

An Open and an under 1800 tournament, each a six round Swiss with a time control of all moves in 90 minutes plus an increment of 30 seconds per move. Both tournaments will be FIDE and nationally rated events, and are therefore open only to members of NZCF registered clubs or overseas players registered with their national federation.

The club rapid champs kick off next week. A slightly longer time control this year at 30 + 10. The tournament will run over six weeks with a two week break after round 4 for the school holidays. This is a members only event. See you there

We start another 6 game  tournament, 2 games per night over 3 weeks next Tuesday 20 May. Guests are welcome to come along and join in. See you there. Dont be late

The Autumn Rapid (A)  has proved a hit with 30 players present at club night last night. Two more rounds to go next week, then we will start Autumn Rapid (B) with the same time controls. Two games on a club night at 25/5 is a new format for the club and looks popular so will become a regular feature. Standings after 4 rounds are below

If you have been thinking about coming along for a look then April 30 at 7pm is your best bet. We will start a 6 game tournament running over 3 weeks. Each game will last around 60 minutes. Games will kick off shortly after 7, so dont be late if you want to take part in the mini tournament. New members are always welcome. Come along and be part of the fun. The club is in recess for the next two weeks. We resume with a new six round tournament on 30 April. Time control will be 25 + 5, two games per night, across six weeks. Prospective new members are welcome to join. Be there at 7pm on 30 April to be included in the draw

As previously announced Richard is once again club open champion with a clean sweep. Hilton and William tie for second equal. Eushin is club Junior champ 2019. Final standings are as follows

With one round to go Richard now has an unassailable lead and is once again club open champion. Next week will decide where silver and bronze fall. See you there

This is the draw for boards one to six for next week assuming the indicated players attend. Draw will be re-done on the night if there are absences. Boards 7 to 13 are  not shown as I am not sure who will and will not be there. Remember we aim to start at 7:15.
